It just went off

Reader Steve S. sends this blurb about another evil gun that started shooting people all by itself.

An off-duty Seattle police officer was shot in the leg when his gun accidentally fired...

He was apparently readjusting his firearm when it went off, firing at least one, and possibly two, rounds.

Sounds like either there is more to this, or the guy is amazingly incompetent with a firearm.

Another Glock negligent discharge.

A lot of cops have shot themselves with glocks ... either a finger in the trigger guard while holstering, or a holster strap finding its way into the guard while it is being holstered.

If you are going to carry a Glock, get a strapless kydex holster, and learn to keep your damned finger off the trigger unless firing.

Always remember to keep the booger hook off the bang button!

Don't you, in this case, mean the "donut dredge"?

Never had a problem with my 1911 .45 going off...

I think that when a law enforcement entity has a negligent discharge like this, it should be considered a violation of the public's trust, and grounds for immediate dismissal. No excuses, short of the gun breaking internally, should be accepted.
