When the Italians would rather have Lira.
The euro fell sharply against the dollar on Friday after reports that an Italian minister said Italy should consider quitting the euro and returning to the lira.

I can explain currency, if there's just one (ie. what is money and how does it get a value), but not multiple currencies and their trading prices. It's not currencies that suck vs those that don't, however.
