Lost is lost

iconDid anyone else watch Lost last night? Did you notice they ran 2 minutes of commercials about every 4 minutes? It was almost enough to make me turn it off and tivo through it later.

What was most disappointing was that all they did was leave you with more unanswered questions. Imagine watching mystery theater each week, and they don't solve any of the mysteries. They just dive right into new ones. Sorry, but I need some gratification. I don't think I'll be back when it comes around again next fall.

Well, I'm still trying to figure out how a wooden ship survived so long in the tropics without rotting into a big pile of dirt. Or why all the metal (iron) stuff inside said ship wasn't rusted solid.

Or where that pretty dang small pirate boat that the rafters encountered came from out on the open ocean.

Those were the "others". She said they were coming for the boy. She just picked the wrong boy.

I got "Lost" during the first episode. My TiVo is full enough as it is, so I'll watch something else. (Although all of my wife's Law and Order timers are about to go...that bunch has gone just plain wacky)

That’s exactly why I quit. Besides so many things that seem implausible, I just couldn’t continue without getting some reward for all the time I had put in. Not to mention the constant reruns…
The wife is hooked, so I get occassional updates from her while I am watching "Mythbusters".

I heard an interview with the producers a while back, and they explained that they were resolving small mysteries in cycles, but a couple of big mysteries would be held until the end (apparently the show is on a 3-year plan for the resolution of the whole plot).

I found some interesting things in this episode, like the fact that the Spanish-language comic with the polar bear was Hurley's. It certainly lends credence to Hurley's and Locke's theories.

I do think that the last couple of episodes were weak, but mainly because the rest have been so strong. What has made this show so fantastic is the establishment of the characters. The problem is that as the characters become better-established, they will have to undergo major revelations and changes, or they will become flat and uninteresting.

So, yeah, the mysteries could be resolved a little quicker - that would be nice - but I'm more concerned that they keep the character interplay alive and well.
