It depends on what the definition of 'conviction' is

iconThe CNN Headline reads: "Convicted rapist suits up for college ball"

The AP story reads: "A jury acquitted Dixon of rape, but he was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the molestation charge... On May 3, the Georgia Supreme Court overturned the felony conviction and its 10-year sentence."

I followed the Dixon case early on. There was no doubt that the sex was consensual, though the girl was underage. It was apparent that the prosecutor charged Dixon because the "victim" was white, and Dixon was black. It pissed me off at the time, and I exchanged a couple of emails with his (pro-bono) defense attorney. I'm glad to see the Georgia Supreme Court overturned.

Oh, and fuck CNN.

Yeah, I caught the story on HBO's Real Sports last month. I pretty much came to the same conclusion.
