Lawmakers seek to penalize Augusta

iconYou cannot tell me this isn't behavior modification. Two liberal democrats in the House from the Socialist States of California and New York want to abuse our nation's tax law, in an attempt to change the rules for private organizations like Augusta National Golf Club. Since when did tax laws become a weapon to be wielded by politicians?

"Since when did tax laws become a weapon to be weilded by policiticans?"

Umm, basically, since tax laws were enacted? Sure, tax laws are PRIMARILY a way to raise revenue. But, come on, you know, we all know, tax laws are used ALL THE TIME to preference/penalize certain behaviors. And most of us - come on, if you can admit it, I will too! - only complain when tax law preferences/penalizes something we feel strongly about or have an interest in. Shoot, if we did away with all the taxes intended to influence behavior, we'd do away with a whole hell of alot of them! Cigarette taxes, tax breaks for providing health insurance...
